Student Senate

AGU Student Senate: The Voice of a Student-Oriented Future

At Abdullah Gül University, we have established the Student Senate to enhance quality in our educational activities and to embody our vision of being a "student-oriented university." Founded in accordance with national and international quality standards and the principles of the Bologna Process, our senate is the highest representative body ensuring the active participation of our students in management processes.

What is the Student Senate and What is Its Purpose?

The Student Senate encourages our students, as internal stakeholders, to involve themselves in the university's decision-making, quality, and accreditation processes. Our primary goal is to enhance the academic, social, and cultural experiences of campus life and to establish a strong, innovative communication bridge between our students and the university administration.

Senate Structure and Membership

To create a democratic representative force, the Senate consists of members from a wide range of backgrounds:

  • Undergraduate Representatives: Up to 12 student representatives elected from each department.

  • School of Languages (Prep School): 3 student representatives in their first year.

  • International Representation: 3 representatives elected from among international students.

  • Graduate Representation: One graduate student representative from each institute.

  • Clubs: 3 representatives elected from among the presidents of the club executive boards.

In accordance with our principles of diversity and inclusion, priority is given to students with disabilities and women students in STEM fields during the elections.

Who Can Become a Member?

The basic qualifications required for candidates for Senate membership are as follows:

  • Being a second or third-year undergraduate student (or a graduate student in the course phase).

  • Having a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 or above (this requirement does not apply to Prep School and graduate students).

  • Having no disciplinary actions or criminal records.

The Senate forms advisory resolutions for the development of university policies and carries out projects aimed at increasing student satisfaction.
